Be Strong and Courageous

Are you facing a new challenge today? Who isn’t? Maybe it’s something big, like a new job or an aging loved one. Maybe it’s a challenge no one else knows about, but it’s constantly weighing on your heart and mind. “How can I do this? How will I make it? How can I go on? I’m not strong enough for this!”

You’re right. You’re not strong enough for this. But God is! When Joshua faced a new challenge long ago—leading millions of grumbling and complaining Israelites into a new land filled with their enemies—God gave him this promise: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9). Joshua could face every challenge with strength and courage, because God was with him!

You can too. Whatever challenge you’re facing today, the same God who gave strength and courage to Joshua is with you. The same God who died and rose for you is with you. So “be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

  1. Thank you, Pastor. I’ve been having some health issues this past month. I have an important doctor appointment this afternoon. These words brought me much comfort.

God’s blessings on this new phase of your ministry. You are missed at St. Paul.
