As I’ve watched all the election results, I’ve noticed that a few post-election truths haven’t been mentioned much. Here are some of them:
- Jesus is still the bread of life: “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty” (John 6:35)
- Jesus is still the light of the world: “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12
- Jesus is still the gate to heaven: “I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved” (John 10:7-9)
- Jesus is still our good shepherd: “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me— just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep” (John 10:14-15)
- Jesus is still the resurrection and the life: “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die” (John 11:25-26)
- Jesus is still the true vine: “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:5)
- Jesus is still the way and the truth and the life: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6)
However you feel about the results of yesterday’s election, it’s great to know that Jesus and his promises for us endure forever. Trusting in God’s control over all things, we pray that God bless president-elect Donald Trump, that God bless the United States of America, and that God continue to focus our hearts and minds on Jesus our Savior.
