Even If…

It’s one thing to trust in God when God does what we want him to. But what if he doesn’t? It’s one thing to believe in God’s promises when we see God keeping his promises. But what if we can’t see it?

Three men in the Bible were facing the fire. Literally. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were about to be thrown into a blazing furnace as their punishment for believing in God. It looked like there was no hope. The king mocked them, “What god will be able to rescue you from my hand?” (Daniel 3:15).

Here was their answer: “If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods” (Daniel 3:17-18). That’s faith!

What god could save them from the blazing furnace? “Our God can!” If you know the story, God did. But even if he hadn’t rescued them, what would those men have continued to do? Trust in him.

Even if he does not…” When you know that Jesus died on the cross to save you, when you trust that God has your life in his hands, then you’re able to say, “Even if…” “Even if I don’t get better… Even if life doesn’t my way, I will trust in my Savior Jesus and his salvation.” That’s faith!
