Comfort From Jesus

We never stop needing to be comforted. With little kids, it’s obvious. A scrapped knee. A bump on the head. A scary noise in the dark. The tears quickly start flowing. Their cries demand comfort.

That need doesn’t stop, does it? Just because you don’t live with your parents anymore doesn’t change your need for comfort. For someone to wipe your tears away. For someone to tell you it’s okay. For someone to remind you that you are loved, you are special, you are not alone. Where do you find comfort?

Here’s God’s promise: “As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you” (Isaiah 66:13). Mom might not be around, but Jesus is. Home might feel far away, but Jesus is right here with you every day.

That’s why he came: To comfort God’s people. Jesus was born and lived and died and rose to wipe your tears away. To forgive your sins. To give you life. So that you can always know that you are loved, you are special, you are not alone. “As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you.” There’s always true comfort from Jesus.
