Teaching Tuesday

It’s Teaching Tuesday. Have you ever heard that phrase before? Tuesday of Holy Week isn’t as well known as Maundy Thursday or Good Friday, but the Bible actually has more to say about the Tuesday of Holy Week than about Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter combined (see Matthew 21:18-25:46). Do you know what Jesus did on Tuesday? He taught. Jesus told parables. He taught about taxes. About marriage. About love. About God’s commandments. He warned against hypocrisy. He prophesied about the end of the world and Judgment Day. On Teaching Tuesday, Jesus taught. A lot!

All that teaching reminds me of Jesus’ words to his disciples: “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:31-32). It’s great to remember Jesus’ suffering, death, and resurrection during Holy Week. What a blessing to have a Savior! It’s also good to remember that Jesus didn’t just spend a few days saving us. Jesus spent his entire life saving us, and he left behind his teaching to give us forgiveness, life, and truth. Before we get to Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, spend some time today in Jesus’ teachings. They will set you free!
